Gary Collins
For 40 years I have used my music and art skills to engage with children, young people and adults who have significant emotional and mental health difficulties. I worked for Leeds City Council and Manchester City Council between 1982 and 2000 as a residential social worker and manager. I was self-employed as a graphic artist and designer between 2000 and 2003. I was employed by Kirklees Council as a Community Safety Officer from 2003 until 2010.
I have been self employed from that time as a private music teacher. Since January 2022 I have delivered 2 music and animation projects funded by the Kirklees Councillors’ “ Members Local Project Fund” to engage with socially isolated and disadvantaged people in the Holme Valley. These projects have been supported by Claire Baldwin , Community Coordinator, Community Plus. The success of the projects led to the creation of Arts For Health C.I.C.
